Durham City Run is organised by Events of the North with Durham City Run Festival. For this event, the film needed to show the scale of the race and its setting across Durham.
Covering more than one point on the route
A dedicated drone pilot captured aerial perspectives while the ground crew worked across different vantage points in the city. Race coverage brings a logistical challenge: we plan how to move between positions and get ahead of the runners so the cameras can be ready at the next spot.
Depending on the route and timing, getting between positions can mean travelling by bike or running on foot. The movement is part of the work. Careful planning lets us capture the crowd, action and atmosphere from more than one place, so the finished film gives a broader sense of the event.
